![]() With its myriad of mysteries, the King of Fighters gets ready to begin! Benimaru is confused-he's never seen these names listed at any other fighting events regardless.īenimaru heads toward the tournament venue, clearly unsettled by the circumstances, and the other entrants are soon to follow. I will put them up via first in parallel with our site. With the introduction of a new lead character, K', SNK had originally planned to remove main characters Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami, who had previously appeared in earlier installments of the series, from The King of Fighters '99. I will include some screen shots of WIP in the near future but I am sure you will understand that they will not be made available until nearer the release date. Well we will continue to work on the games for MVS/AES using some new technology to prevent home bootlegging of AES conversions - sorry guys.īTW - anyone interested in a Neo Robotron - not promising, but it's something that we are seriously looking at - the original, not a new version - would like some feedback on this and some of the other WMS games from that era - plus anything else you would like to see for MVS or AES - maybe even a gun game. I can confirm that 2 weeks ago, we offered them X Box conversions and DC conversions (the conversions are straight forward ports from the AES to platform - same graphics quality with 100% functionality)- no reply has been received on this. With the possible demise of DC, SNK are not at a high point for experience in platforms to design for. So what lies will be up to Aruze what they decide to do. I was informed by a member of the company that the games that are pending release for all platforms at SNK are previous WIP titles that didn't make it out first time round. A little bit of sabre rattling on their part as you can imagine followed after that, but basically they are out in the cold on this one. ![]() For whatever reason, only know to SNK, they were unable to meet the timescale for discussions/agreements, therefore they were informed last week that the project (also to be offered up to 3rd party development in Apr 01) would go ahead without SNK involvement. SNK were offered the ability to provide info for the project and take a royalty. Just for the record, we are now working on a series of new MVS titles (3 in hand) for release this year. Problem is though that there are very few staff at SNK - primarily focussed on Pachinko development and some small scale NGPC work. ![]() we have just completed a version of Metal Slug which is going off for approval right now. The games were based on MAME and included open ROM files with some pretty gross language in text files within the ZIP'd ROM files. Then followed a pretty nasty series of exchanges involving legal reps from several areas.Īll of the source promised to TNS was never provided and the games were done from scratch - SNK effectively tried to prevent the games from being released on at least one occasion, and there was some confusion over games that were released by Mega Corp in Korea - who claim that they too were licensed to release these games. I have no fear of legal retribution here as I was at the meeting in Osaka. They awareded a license to TNS and then backed out of all of the support that they had offered (promised) the client. The games were part of a 9 game deal that SNK asked us to develop for their customer in Dec 99.

The book’s title comes from a phrase the luck-obsessed musician would frequently spout. ![]() It’s a period which is usually forgotten, and Kushins does great service in his detailing here. In the ‘80s and ‘90s he reinvented his stage show and toured constantly while trying to land record deals. Most revealingly, he talked to a series of girlfriends, each of whom added another piece to the overall puzzle of Zevon’s personality, ups and downs, OCD, and quirky habits. ![]() ![]() In addition to archival research, Kushins conducted interviews with many of Zevon’s friends, collaborators, relatives, and writers, including ex-wife Crystal Zevon (though not his children, Ariel and Jordan). Zevon had finally quit drinking the year before, and wouldn’t touch alcohol again for another 17 years (Zevon was fond of telling interviewers “I lived like Jim Morrison longer than he did.”). It was shepherded by his new manager and superfan Andy Slater. Houston makes a brief appearance in a description from a solo show at Rockefeller’s in the mid-‘80s where he played very early versions of new songs including “Detox Mansion,” “Reconsider Me,” and “The Factory.”Īll would appear on his “comeback” record, 1987’s Sentimental Hygiene. Werewolves were just the latest in his line of Wild West outlaws, Third World mercenaries, pulp noir shady dudes, prostitutes, heroin addicts, cannibals, and rapists who populated his work. But by this time, followers of Warren Zevon cherished – and looked forward to – the sometimes perverse characters and lyrics in his songs. Courtesy of the private collection of George Gruel. They ended up using the second one on the album. And when it came time to record it, Zevon and the band put down 60 takes. Former employer Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers challenged Zevon to write song that would inspire a dance craze, based on a 1935 horror movie he’d seen called Werewolf of London.Ī drunken writing session with friends LeRoy Marinell and guitarist Waddy Wachtel (who first blurted out the inspirational “ Aah-oooh!” scream) ensued, with lyrics getting wilder and wackier. The story of his most famous hit “Werewolves of London” is familiar. “Warren’s tendency to allow someone else to foot the bills and responsibilities, leaving him free to focus his creative energies, would become a trend throughout his life.” In the end, Warren’s charm and intelligence would always win out, bringing back those closest to him time and time again,” Kushins writes. “Both his life and his burgeoning career had slowly become defined by stretches of genuine warmth and creative genius, yet punctuated by jarring moments of extreme jealousy and ingratitude. With every bad incident and blown opportunity recounted, the reader wants to simply reach through the pages of the book and shake Zevon into snapping out of it. And he could always cloak himself under the guise of Tortured Musical Genius to justify his actions to himself. But hey, if he didn’t remember what injuries he did to people or property the night before – then it never happened. And that only got worse with his prodigious drinking and drugging. Warren’s own musical influences were equal parts Fat Domino and Stockhausen.ĭa Capo book cover His brand of literate, character-driven songs and fiery stage performances (sometimes fueled by, um, substances), made him a “cult” favorite and he was championed by more famous friends like the Eagles, Jackson Browne (an early and strong champion who Zevon viewed as a frenemy), and Linda Ronstadt – the last of whom covered several Zevon numbers, including “Poor Poor Pitiful Me.”īut as Kushins makes plain throughout, Warren Zevon could also be a selfish, abusive, entitled, and frustrating prick – burning bridges with the glee of an arsonist and being a general shit to friend and foe alike. But he had great faith in his son’s early musical ability, and at times was his biggest cheerleader. William “Stumpy” Zevon was an extroverted lower level mobster, gambler, gadfly, and rolling stone whose marriage to Warren’s mother – a woman half his age – was volatile and didn’t last. Young Warren’s first piano was a gift from his father. Kushins’ book is an embarrassment of riches on the Excitable Boy, Mr. ![]() While fans have been treated to a very good oral history, two tomes focusing on specific songs and albums, and even a photo book, Warren Zevon has never been the subject of a deep, rewarding and insightful biography of the late performer’s life and music. Rejoice, admirers of Warren Zevon! It’s here. Domino's then appealed to the Supreme Court. The 9th Circuit last year upheld the judge's decision, finding that the drivers were integral in getting products that came from outside California to their final destinations. A federal judge in Santa Ana denied the motion, ruling that the drivers were exempt from arbitration because they were involved in interstate commerce. Does it take Death for a Recall? Is it going to take a Death and Group Law Suit? The TIPM is defective and must be recalled on 2009 Dodge Journeys and all other after that year. I was lucky and just coasted off the road, but if one is on the Road and Heavy Traffic you will CRASH and you and Every One\'s Life, Health and Well being is lethally in danger ( Death) This Dodge Journey due to this defect must be recalled before someone dies. This is dangerous everyone because if the TIPM just decides to go defect your car will automatically stop and you will lose control of your control because the TIPM shuts it down. No Cluster Lights ( Fuel gauge, Speedometer, Battery, Temp Gauge, Speed gauge, Digital readouts etc) No Heat or AC power, No Blinkers. NVIDIA’s other big market for Quadro K6000, like Tesla K10 and K20, is the oil and gas industry, who use GPU products both to analyze seismic data and to display it. The latter in particular may very well be more important than the former, since often the limits in real time workloads is fitting all of the assets into memory rather than drawing them, due to the very severe performance cliff from spilling over into system memory. In these cases the gains from Quadro K6000 are a mix of greater rendering performance and the greater VRAM. So who and what is NVIDIA pitching the Quadro K6000 at? As with the Quadro 6000 this is primarily (and unabashedly) being pitched at the deep pocketed content creation and product design crowds, who can afford to drop several kilobucks on a single card. The professional graphics market still highly values graphics performance and the Quadro K6000 should have no problem delivering on that, but for mixed use cases the compute gains will be even more remarkable. The compute performance gains clearly outpace the graphics performance gains, reflecting where NVIDIA has gone with Kepler in their designs. Besides the obvious doubling in memory, Quadro K6000 offers 1.7x the graphics performance but 5x the compute performance. The TDP on all of this? Only 225W.Ĭompared to the outgoing Quadro 6000, it’s interesting to note on just where NVIDIA’s performance ambitions have taken them. Paired with this GPU is a staggering 12GB of VRAM clocked at 6GHz, marking the first NVIDIA product shipping with 4Gb GDDR5. These in turn are clocked at roughly 900MHz, the highest base clockspeed for any GK110 card. ![]() With a quoted compute performance of 5.2TFLOPs/sec for single precision (FP32), Quadro K6000 is the first fully enabled GK110 part, shipping with all 15 SMXes up and running. With Quadro NVIDIA doesn’t promote the specifications of the card nearly as much as they promote the use cases – in fact they don’t even publish clockspeeds – but based on their performance data it’s always easy to quickly calculate the necessary information. So it has taken the better part of a year, but NVIDIA is finally shipping a GK110 based Quadro card and it is a doozy. A GK110 Quadro was a forgone conclusion, but of course GK110 would not start shipping until the end of 2012, and NVIDIA had large Tesla orders to fill. When Quadro K5000 was launched at SIGGRAPH 2012, it was to be based on NVIDIA’s more graphics-oriented GK104 GPU. It should come as no surprise then that with the Quadro K6000, NVIDIA is looking to launch what will become the king of the Keplers. They’re unabashedly high end – and have a price tag to match – but in many ways they’re the capstone of a generation. They’re not just the flagship cards for the Quadro family, but really the flagship for the entire generation of GPUs, possessing the compute functionality of Tesla combined with the graphics functionality of GeForce/Quadro, and powered by what’s typically the single most powerful GPU configuration NVIDIA offers. In NVIDIA’s product hierarchy, the Quadro 6000 cards hold the position of NVIDIA’s most powerful products. This year NVIDIA is back again with a new Quadro part, finally fully fleshing out the Quadro family with the most powerful of the Quadro cards, the Quadro K6000. ![]() SIGGRAPH is NVIDIA’s favored show for professional graphics and Quadro product announcements, with NVIDIA using last year’s SIGGRAPH to announce their first Kepler based Quadro part, the Quadro K5000.
